How to create an exclusive product offering on BigCommerce apps?

You might want to attract customers to your app by allowing them access to sales promotions or offering exclusive products or lines of products earlier/exclusively. That can be done using our feature that supports mobile-only categories. Basically, this feature makes inactive categories visible on the app, which are hidden on the website.

So, to have a mobile-only category, first create a hidden category on your store (Products > Product Categories > Visible in Menu = No), then go to JMango360 Back Office and let that hidden category show up on the app.

How does this work?

In order to offer products exclusively in the app, you need to hide the products from your website and sync the hidden categories to the app. This way the products will show up in the app and not on the website. The instruction steps below will tell you specifically how to set this up:

Step 1: Access BigCommerce Backend on your own account & the corresponding store

  • Click to open Products in the Side menu to see all products.

Step 2: Determine the products you want to set up exclusively on the mobile app.

  • Click on the three dots in the Action column of each certain product (that is marked as not displayed on the website and has the covered-eyed icon)  -> Choose Edit

Step 3: Proceed to the "Custom Fields" section & add the following information:

  • Custom field name: is_mobile_visbile

  • Custom field value: TRUE

(NOTE: All added information is under Data type as String)

-> Click SAVE all your changes.

Step 4: Access JMango360 Backendlog into your account and set up the following:
  1. Navigate to Settings > BigCommerce Integration Settings > Integrate with your BigCommerce store.
  2. In the dialog that appears, select Show inactive categories and content pages. In doing so, your store's inactive categories and content pages will be included in the category and content list with the  icon next to them.
  3. Select inactive categories and content pages you want to display on app, then click Import/Update App > Done.
  4. It's time for app design. Don't forget to update the categories' names and icons and include the categories in the home screen.
  5. Click Save Changes to finish.

>> Your setting to show certain products exclusively on the JMango360 Mobile app is completed!

NOTE: We recommend contacting JMango360 for a double-check after completing the setting.

Two tips

  • It is highly recommended to set up all certain products exclusively on the app in a separate category in BigCommerce backend so they are controlled efficiently.

  • The category can be named “App Exclusive Offers" or something like that to be well-recognized.

*Example: Category setting in BigCommerce backend:
