Set up GA4 data collection for the website
If there is no website data in your Firebase Dashboard, most likely this is because of a missing configuration in GA4. In this article, we elaborate the steps to configure the website data stream on GA4. Once this process is done, the web data will be shown in Firebase.
1. Set up GA4 data collection for the first time
2. Set up GA4 data collection using your account
If you already have a GA4 account but haven’t set up GA4 data collection for your website, please follow the steps below:
Note: The Analytics account for web data collection needs to be set up under the same property within your Firebase account for your apps.
Step 2: Navigate to Admin in the left-side menu, then click Data stream > Web.
Step 3: Enter the website domain and a stream name, then click Create stream.
Once you complete setting up your web stream, you will see three streams: one for the iOS app, one for the Android app, and one for the website.
Besides, you can find your Measurement ID by clicking the Web tab in the Data stream section. Please note that the measurement ID is required when setting up GA4 in the backend of some e-commerce platforms. For further information, see step 4 below.
Step 4: Complete the configuration in your e-commerce platform backend.
Each platform has its own configuration steps. Access the user guide provided by the platform you’re using for your website store.
- Shopify: Please take a look at Setting up Google Analytics 4 and see Step 3 to add Google Analytics 4 tags.
